Carl Barat has dropped yet more hints that another reunion of The Libertines could be on the cards.
In a series of tweets last night (some of which have now been deleted) Barat asked fans: "Seriously, what band has taken the libertines mantle [sic]?". He followed this with: "I mean, it's been a few years, what is the difference between a stone roses re-union and a libertines re-union?".
He added:
Well what can I say? Is another reunion pushin it? I'm up for it...?
Earlier this week, bandmate Pete Doherty cancelled his headline festival performance at next weekend's T In The Park festival after taking himself to rehab in Thailand.
Barat previously told NME that the pair will "pick up where we left off" in the future in an exclusive video interview you can watch below, following reports that the duo had met up in a London pub.
"I'm always out with Pete," he said. "Just sometimes I'm out with Pete in a visible place and other times not. We had a good chat and we're both getting on fine." ?He added: "We're both doing different things, [but] I'm sure at some point we'll pick up where we left off when it's needed."
Prior to this, Barat had told NME in May 2011 that there was "no Libertines future" amid rumours of a bust up with Doherty following the band's 2010 reunion shows.?
Earlier this week, his former bandmate Pete Doherty was forced to pull out of this year's T In The Park festival. The former Libertines man flew to Thailand (June 26) to seek treatment for heroin and crack cocaine addiction and as a result will not be performing at the event. ?
This is the second year in a row that Doherty has pulled out of the Scottish festival. He was also booked to play in 2011, but withdrew after he was sent to prison for cocaine possession.??
Speaking to NME, T In The Park organiser Geoff Ellis confirmed Doherty's pull-out, saying: "It's a shame. I got a call at about 2am saying that he was going into a medical facility for some treatment and couldn't play. It's a shame because he couldn't play last year and we said we'd put him on this year and he's had to pull out again. I hope he recovers."
