Dap Kings, Alex Greenwald take over producing The Like album

Mark Ronson produced the initial tracks on the record

Alex Greenwald, and The Dap Kings’ Homer Steinweiss and Thomas Brenneck have taken over production duties on the forthcoming album from The Like, which is nearing completion in New York.

The Californian band have recorded four songs with the trio at a studio in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and will wrap up the sessions today (June 4).

The songs, which are entitled ‘Ssh (Don’t Make A Sound)’ , ‘Square 1’, ‘In The End’ and a cover of the Isley Brothers’ ‘Why When The Love Is Gone’ have a Motown edge, drummer Tennessee Thomas tells NME.COM.

The Dap Kings are credited with playing a large part in Amy Winehouse’s ‘Back To Black’, and were brought on board for that album by Mark Ronson.

Alex Greenwald recently dissolved former band Phantom Planet, and performed a cover of Radiohead’s ‘Just’ on Ronson’s 2007 album ’Version’.

Ronson produced nice tracks for The Like’s album, the release date of which has yet to be confirmed.
