The Maccabees have reacted to the sales downturn HMV experienced during Christmas in an exclusive video interview with NME.COM - click above the watch.

This weeks NME cover stars were asked to comment on the fact HMV suffered "disappointing" seasonal sales. The high street retailer posted half-year losses of £36.4 million just before Christmas.

Felix White from the band said: "I've definitely bought a lot of albums from HMV and record shops in general. I think we're the last [generation] who would feel sentimentality towards that era but I would hugely miss record shops. That's still how I get music."

Drummer Sam Doyle added: "It shows another stage in the digital revolution, which is a shame because I love having a physical CD."

White added: "Being a musician these days is not a 'get rich quick' professional like being a footballer, which it maybe was in the '70s, but that doesn't change anything for people who want to make music."

The band are set to score their first Number One album with 'Given To The Wild' on Sunday (January 15).

The band, who released their third studio album on Monday (January 9), are currently outselling Adele's '21', which returned to the top spot last week and is presently at Number Two.
