The Maccabees: 'We're going to produce our new album ourselves'
Band reveals plans for 'Into The Wild' follow-up
The Maccabees have revealed that they will produce their new studio album themselves.
Tim Goldsworthy, Bruno Ellingham and Jag Jago shared production duties on the band's most recent album, 'Into The Wild', but in an interview with Digital Spy guitarist Felix White said that he felt they were ready to take control of recording sessions on their own.
Speaking about their plans for the sessions, he said: "I think we're gonna do it ourselves. The way we made the last record, learning to do it ourselves, no-one knows better how to make our own record than we do. We're old enough now to do it ourselves."
The guitarist was reluctant to give too much away about plans for the LP, however, stating: "It sounds really good. We've only just started learning to play some of the bits. It sounds... actually, I don't want to start saying what it sounds like.
"It's gonna have quite a lot of space in it," he added. "With the records we're listening to at the moment, there's so much faith in the songs that they're allowed to really breathe and exist on their grooves. That's what we're doing right now."
Earlier this month (November 6), White and frontman Orlando Weeks said that they plan to release their fourth studio album next year. They said: "We're touring right up until the end of the year and then we're just gonna write another record. We've got a studio in London. We're gonna try and calm things down touring-wise and we're gonna try and get a record done by the end of next year."
The Maccabees will be supporting The Black Keys on their European tour throughout December, finishing up with two shows at London's O2 Arena (December 12-13). Earlier this month, the band managed to lose their nomination trophy at the Barclaycard Mercury Prize ceremony. The band's third album 'Given To The Wild' lost out on the main award to eventual winners Alt-J and their debut album, 'An Awesome Wave'.
