Prog rockers line-up new series of dates

The Mars Volta hit the road

The Mars Volta plan to follow up their forthcoming rescheduled tour of Australia and New Zealand (postponed from last year) with an additional set of dates in California.

The shows down under were originally meant take place last year in support of the ‘Amputechture’ album.

The dates are:

Auckland St. James (March 12)
Brisbane Convention Centre (14)
Sydney Hordern Pavilion (15)
Melbourne Festival Hall (17)
Adelaide Barton Theatre (19)
Perth Metro City (21)
Ventura Theater (28)
Santa Cruz Catalyst (30)
Berkeley Community Theater (31)
Loa Angeles Orpheum Theater (April 3)

Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodriguez have also been keeping busy away from the band with the pair collaborating alongside New York rapper El-P on a track called ‘Tasmanian Pain Coaster’.

The track will appear on El-P’s new album ‘I’ll Sleep When You're Dead’ due for release on Def Jux Records on March 19 (20 in the US).
