The National joined onstage by Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon – watch

They performed 'Terrible Love' and 'Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks' together in Austin, Texas

Justin Vernon of Bon Iver recently joined The National on stage for renditions of the latter band’s songs ‘Terrible Love’ and ‘Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks’.

Pitchfork reports that Vernon came onstage with the band during their Austin City Limits festival aftershow at Stubb’s in Austin on Saturday night (October 6). Click above to watch footage of ‘Terrible Love’. Vernon provides backing vocals on The National’s 2010 album ‘High Violet’.

Meanwhile, The National are set to appear on a forthcoming episode of The Mindy Project. The band headline a fictional music festival in the sitcom and perform an acoustic version of ‘This Is The Last Time’ from their recent album, ‘Trouble Will Find Me’. Frontman Matt Berninger also has a number of lines in the show. He comments: “I’m a big fan of the show and in interviews, they would ask me what I’d been reading lately and I kept saying The Mindy Project because I watch more TV than I read.”

He added of his speaking part: “I have a line in the show, and actually, I think I was so good that they gave me another one… I got two or three lines now.”
