Singer Dominic Masters describes his pal as a "pure scholar of a man"...

THE OTHERS have dedicated their next single to estranged Libertines star PETE DOHERTY.

Singer Dominic Masters has revealed that he penned the song ‘Stan Bowles’ for his close friend, who he describes as a "pure scholar of a man".

He told NME.COM: "Pete is my friend. I’ve hung out with Pete for a couple of years because we live near each other.

"We enjoy socialising together and even though he is younger than me he is like my big brother.

"I wrote the song 'Stan Bowles' about Pete. I owe Peter. If you listen to the lyrics there is a part in there where I sing: ‘I’ll always owe you son/Gratitude, gratitude my friend’. From that you can see how much Peter means to me."

The track, which also refers to the former QPR midfielder by the same name, is the band’s second release through Poptones.

Dominic dedicated the song to his friend after he embraced The Others during their early stages.

"I owe Peter a lot in the way that he has given me a platform and an opportunity to go out and reach a wider audience.

"In the past he has put us on at the Rhythm Factory, the London Astoria, Brixton Academy and with Babyshambles. Pete has probably put us on 15 or 20 times."

"That just shows what a kind heart he has and what a gentlemen and pure scholar of a man he is," Dominic added.

The Others, who have become renowned for doing one off ‘guerrilla’ gigs unannounced on buses and tube trains, will play London’s ICA on August 12 alongside Eighties Matchbox B-Line Disaster.

‘Stan Bowles’ is released on October 11.
