The Pigeon Detectives cancel shows after injury
The Pigeon Detectives
Matt Bowman taken to hospital
The Pigeon Detectives have been forced to cancel two shows in Ireland this week due to singer Matt Bowman injuring himself on stage yesterday (May 11) at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Maidstone.
Bowman badly injured his leg during a performance of 'Emergency', but continued to leap off the stage and scissor kick into the air off the drumkit until he collapsed.
He managed to finish the set before being taken to hospital where they initially wanted to operate immediately, but after further advice he was transferred to Leeds, where he is currently being treated.
The band hope to reschedule the Irish dates that have been cancelled. They are May 13 at Dublin's Ambassador Theatre and the next night (14) at Belfast's Mandela Hall.
In a statement, the band apologised to fans who had bought tickets.
