The Pogues' Spider Stacy is set to make a guest appearance in the HBO drama Treme next month.

The tin whistle player will make cameo appearances in episodes nine and 10 of the series, which was written by David Simon and Eric Overmyer, the same team behind The Wire, on Sky Atlantic in October.

The drama which is set in New Orleans in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, will see Stacy playing a tin whistle player from London called Slim Jim Lynch alongside the character Harley Watt, played by Steve Earle.

"I've been recognized as a Pogue over here a few times but since my first episode showed I've got the, 'Hey, I saw you in Treme!' which is really gratifying, considering the length of time I'm actually on screen," Stacy told Nola.com. "I guess people down here are watching very closely indeed."

In the past Elvis Costello has appeared in the show which also stars The Big Lebowski's John Goodman, Clarke Peters and Wendell Pierce, who both appeared in the The Wire.
