The Polyphonic Spree are black

The Polyphonic Spree have ditched their white gowns for an all-black combat look.

The Texan collective have derobed for a new image entitled 'The Fragile Army', after the title of their forthcoming album.

The new look sees the band sporting black combat kit with hearts, red crosses and a new logo.

"The heart is a symbol of care of thoughtfulness. The cross represents first aid, all these humans, we're capable of. It's just a reminder," said lead singer Tim DeLaughter of the new look. "The image of the old robe look is actually us in the robes. We refer to it as our badge of strength and we always liked the fact it was in abstract form. A mass of some type, not particular to robes."

The band currently have a new five-track EP entitled 'Wait' out which is currently available as an iTunes digital release only.

The EP includes the forthcoming tracks, 'I'm Calling' and 'Mental Cabaret', from their new album plus a cover of Nirvana's 'Lithium', The Psychedelic Furs' 'Love My Way' and Tripping Daisy's 'Sonic Bloom'.

'The Fragile Army' is due out in early 2007.
