Prodigy are to release a live video in August and Liam Howlett has revealed to NME he is working on new material for a projected series of EP releases at the end of this year.

The video will feature footage from the band's two London Brixton Academy shows last December as well as the promo videos for 'Breathe' and 'Firestarter'. The band's lawyers are currently investigating any problems with certification if they include the controversial video for 'Firestarter'. The video generated a record number of complaints to the BBC with its first airing on Top Of The Pops.

Liam Howlett said: "We recorded the live show at Brixton and thought we'd do another video for the people that wanna see it. Also, we haven't been over to America much and they want something new to promote." The band have yet to decide on a title for the video collection.

Howlett says he has also written five new songs in the last few months and plans to release them on a series of EPs rather than delay their release for inclusion on any upcoming album.

Liam told NME last week: "I just wanna get back to experimenting again in the studio, I don't wanna be sitting there thinking I've got to make this an album. I just wanna be freaking out doing some crazy shit, you know? Trying different vocal styles with Keith and stuff that hasn't got an end purpose.

"That's how 'Firestarter' came about. That's how stuff comes, from the experiments that you do. When you're writing under pressure it becomes a bit of a chore."

Howlett has also dismisses recent tabloid reports that he is working with veteran robot rocker Gary Numan: "It's absolute bollocks. He lives nearby and my electrician knows him, so I said, 'Tell him to give me a bell and we'll see what he's up to'. We never had any plans to record with him."

Prodigy play Phoenix Festival on July 19. Tickets are available from NME's 24-hour ticketline on 0870 1212 500. All calls are charged at national (UK) standard rate.
