The Prodigy, Chase and Status and former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash are all set to play Download Festival today (June 8).

The Essex dance trio, who are currently working on their new studio album 'How To Steal A Jet Fighter', will make their third appearance at the festival and their debut as headliners tonight.

Chase and Status play before them and could face a hostile reception from the crowd, with some Facebook groups even promising to greet the drum'n'bass trio with a hail of bottles. Also due to play the Jim Marshall stage today are Machine Head, Fear Factory, NOFX and Cancer Bats.

Former Guns N' Roses axeman Slash headlines the event's Zippo Encore stage tonight with Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy and his band The Conspirators, with Nightwish, Opeth, Europe and Little Angels among the other acts also on the bill.

Elsewhere, Gallows, Soil, While She Sleeps, new Cancer Bats/Bullet For My Valentine hybrid Axewound, Marmozets and The Defiled are also set to play the event today.
