The Raconteurs to play first gig since 2009

Jack White and Brendan Benson's band The Raconteurs are to play their first gig in over two years headlining an outdoor music and camping festival in America.

The band have been chosen to co-headline the MI Fest in Brooklyn, Michigan alongside country singer Sheryl Crow. Other bands to play the festival include Michigan-based groups The Romantics, Mark Farner and Mitch Ryder And The Detroit Wheels.

The Raconteurs formed in 2005 and released their debut album 'Broken Boy Soldiers' in 2006.

So far the performance at the Michigan festival on September 17 will be The Raconteurs' only show of 2011.

Speaking to Billboard about the band's future, Brendan Benson said: "I don't know when the next time we'll all be available to make a record, or even talk about it, will be.

"When we were founded it was whimsical and impulsive and spontaneous and all those words. I think it'll always be that way."

Jack White recently joined Seasick Steve at the iTunes Festival, playing alongside his Dead Weather bandmate Alison Mosshart and Led Zeppelin's John Paul Jones.
