The Rapture give London a crowd-surfing spectacular

The Rapture gave UK fans a treat as the ShockWaves NME Awards Shows approached their climax at London Astoria tonight (February 28).

With less than 24 hours to go until the main event, the New York punk-funkers returned to give UK fans a proper taste of their Danger Mouse-assisted second album 'Pieces Of The People We Love' on their first visit since its release.

Multi-instrumentalist Gabe Andruzzi told NME.COM: "Last time we were here the album had just come out and people hadn't really heard it all yet. I think it's an album that takes a little time for it to sink in. All over it was a really comfortable and really fun show."

That was certainly the case for frontman Luke Jenner, who dived into the crowd a total of three times during the finale, to the exasperation of venue bouncers.

Andruzzi joked: "He does that, that's his thing. He's away from his wife a lot so that's the only way anybody really touches his ass, when he jumps in the audience."

So-called ˜Godfathers of New Rave" The Rapture welcomed genre stars Shitdisco as support, alongside Shiny Toy Guns and Glassjaw spin-off Men, Women and Children.

The band played:

'Out Of The Races'
'Down So Long'
'Get Myself Into It'
'Sister Saviour'
'The Devil'
'Pieces Of The People We Love'
'Killing'
'W.A.Y.U.H'
'I Need Ur Love'
'House Of Jealous Lovers'
'T.C.O.S'
'Echoes'
'The Sound'
'Don Gon Do It'
'First Gear'
'Olio'
