Bomb threat stops Stones

US concert disrupted by blast threat

A gig was interrupted by a bomb scare, forcing the band to evacuate the stage last night (October 6).

A phone call, made at around 9pm, warned of a bomb threat “specific to the stage” in the University of Viginia’s Scott Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia.

“Word was got to Mick Jagger and he announced the band would take a ten-minute break,” University of Virginia spokesperson Carol Wood told Reuters.

The band left the stage for 45 minutes while police with sniffer dogs searched the backstage area.

When the all-clear was announced the Stones returned to the stage and played until past midnight.
