Keith Richards second brain op claims denied

Reports that The Rolling Stones’ guitarist Keith Richards has had a second brain operation and may not play live again have been denied by his UK publlicist.

The star had a an operation on Monday (May 8) to drain a blood clot from his skull after he feel out of a tree last month (April 27) while on holiday in Fiji. The Rolling Stones’ ‘A Bigger Bang’’s European leg, due to start in Barcelona on May 27, was put back until June.

But reports in today’s (May 10) Sun newspaper claim he’d been forced to undergo surgery for a second time to try and stop one part of his brain crushing the other. The report also said that doctors had warned Richards may never play live again.

But a statement issued by Richards’ UK publicist states firmly that there was no second operation and that the legend is continuing his recovery as normal.

The statement reads:

“Contrary to stories in newspapers in New Zealand and the UK, Keith Richards did not undergo a second operation. The first and only operation was done on Monday, May 8 and was 100% successful. There was no brain damage. He continues to improve as expected.

The Rolling Stones "A Bigger Bang European tour" will begin in June with details to follow shortly.”
