Two workers were killed after a Rolling Stones gig, when they were dismantling the stage in Madrid.

Two other stage hands were injured in the accident at the Vicente Calderson stadium on Friday (June 22) and are now in hospital.

A spokesperson for the British band said they were “deeply saddened” to hear the news.

They added: “Their heartfelt wishes for a speedy recovery go out to the injured and their profound sympathies to the deceased.”

According to the police, three of the workers fell 10m (33ft) from a metal structure and landed on a fourth. The workers were said to be 38 and 44 years old.

One was an employee of the Belgian-based construction company Stage Co while the other was a local contractor, reports BBC News.
