The Rolling Stones' guitarist Keith Richards is working on his autobiography, which is scheduled for release in 2010.

Associated Press are reporting that Richards will be paid £3.6 million by book publishers Little, Brown and Company. He is being assisted in writing by author and friend James Fox.

Michael Pietsch from the publishers said he had read extracts of Richards’ writing, and described them as “delicious”.

The news is sure to excite fans of The Rolling Stones, as Richards is famous for his debauched rock ‘n’ roll behaviour.

Earlier this year he admitted to the NME.COM that he once cut his father’s ashes with cocaine and snorted them.

Pietsch said: “For nearly 50 years Keith has been at the centre of the vortex of stardom and entertainment as a cultural force.

"To have the story of his own life in one book – there’s no experience like that. There will be stories he has never uttered before.”
