The Rolling Stones have issued a statement denying that drummer Charlie Watts has quit.

The move follows reports that circulated in Australia this morning (September 2) suggesting he had left the band.

"Contrary to a fabricated story that ran this morning on a small music web site in Australia, drummer Charlie Watts has not left The Rolling Stones," the group explained in a statement.
