The Rolling Stones will play a small, secret show in LA this evening (April 27), according to reports.

According to Buzz Bands LA, the legendary rock 'n' roll band will perform an intimate show at the EchoPlex tonight as a warm-up for their forthcoming '50 and counting' tour dates and fans are reportedly currently queuing for tickets, which cost $20 and are limited to one per person.

The band had teased a special announcement on their Twitter earlier this week, hinting to followers that they would have some "exciting news" to reveal soon. After tonight's gig they are set to start the US leg of their tour on May 2 at the Staples Centre and will then play a number of North American gigs, before headlining Glastonbury Festival and playing London's Hyde Park on July 6 and 13.

Earlier this month, frontman Mick Jagger claimed that the band's fans don't like them to play new material live. When asked if they would like to make a follow-up to their 2005 LP 'A Bigger Bang', he replied: "It would be nice to have a new album, but people don't like the new album when you play it onstage. They glumly look at you. 'OK, it will be over in a minute'. It's not a good excuse, but it's the truth and has to be said."

Guitarist Keith Richards, however, claimed that the tour would be a good opportunity to write new material. "The time to record a band is once they've been on the road a while so they're hot," he said. "We'll think about that while we're doing this. The world needs more Stones records. So do I."
