SEAHORSES WASHED UP

[a]John Squire[/a] and other members of band go their separate ways over 'general divergence of musical direction'...

SEAHORSES WASHED UP
THE SEAHORSES have spilt due to John Squire's and lead singer Chris Helme's irreconcilable differences over the musical direction the band should take.

An official statement sent to NME said: "Due to a general divergence of musical directions, The Seahorses have decided to disband. No formal plans for the future have been made but all four members (Squire, Helme, bassist Stuart Fletcher and drummer Mark Heaney) intend to continue along their own separate paths. No further information is available at this time."

The band have reportedly finished work on their second album, though it is not yet clear if or when it will be released. According to sources, Helme wrote some of the songs on the new album; the songs on 'Do It Yourself' were all, appropriately, written by Squire.

A dark day for British rock or slightly less significant than Kenickie calling it a day? Did Squire just get tired of being average or were The Seahorses better than The Stone Roses? Tell us what you think. Post a message on Angst!
