Marty Crandall remains in a Californian jail

The Shins' keyboard player Marty Crandall has been arrested in California following a violent incident involving his girlfriend.

Crandall (pictured far left) was taken into police custody in Sacramento on Friday night (January 4) after a domestic violence dispute in a hotel room.

According to a Live Journal blog posted by Crandall’s girlfriend Elyse Sewell, the keyboardist was intoxicated and assaulted her.

Sewell, a former contestant on ‘America’s Next Top Model’, says she “escaped from the room through a blitzkrieg of violence”. She also posted photos of her heavily bruised arms.

The entry is currently locked, and in a separate post Sewell says she will unlock it following the pair’s court date.

Sewell was also arrested after Crandall showed police a bite mark she inflicted, which she says was self-defence. She has been released, while Crandall remains in custody at Sacramento County Jail with bail set at $25,000.

According to the police report on the jail's website, Crandall is scheduled to appear in court on January 8 at 1.30pm.
