Danger Mouse teams up with London indie band
The super-producer gets to work with Shortwave Set
London “Victorian funk” troupe The Shortwave Set have recorded their second album ‘Replica Sun Machine’ in Los Angeles with DJ Danger Mouse.
The band, who read that Danger Mouse – creator of the Beatles/Jay-Z-sampling ‘The Grey Album’ and one half of Gnarls Barkley – was a fan of theirs in NME, plan to release the album some time next year.
‘Replica Sun Machine’ features a guest spot from The Velvet Underground legend John Cale, and a 24-piece orchestra courtesy of collaborator Van Dyke Parks, who the band met while in Los Angeles.
The Shortwave Set are currently unsigned, although record company interest should ensure they release the album in early 2008.
