The Skids kick off Day Two at T In The Park

The local punk heroes make a welcome return

The Skids kick off Day Two at T In The Park

Returning punk veterans The Skids were one of the early highlights on Day Two of T In The Park today (July 7).

With the punters waking up to sunshine after yesterday's rain, the band followed opening act The Saw Doctors with a hit-laden set that included 'Working For The Yankee Dollar', 'Masquerade' and the band's best loved song, 'Into The Valley'.

Frontman Richard Jobson, now a movie director, paid tribute to former bandmate Stuart Adamson, who committed suicide in 2001. He led the crowd in a round of applause for the star, who also found fame with Big Country after The Skids split.

He also said: "We might be finishing in a few songs time, but hopefully the music will live on and on."

Jobson also paid tribute to U2 and Green Day's 2006 cover of the group's 'The Saints Are Coming', which closed today's set.

He said: "This song was covered by the mighty Green Day and the incredible U2."
