The Soft Pack begin work on debut album

Hotly-tipped US band The Soft Pack have started work on their debut album.

The Los Angeles-based outfit are working on new material in between touring - with a view to releasing an album by the end of 2009.

They are set to play their first UK gigs this February - kicking things off with a Shockwaves NME Awards Show supporting Black Lips at London's Carling Islington Academy on February 15.

"Right now, we're writing new songs and demos," guitarist Matty McLoughlin told Billboard. "We've been writing and working pretty hard when we haven't been touring. And it's an incentive to get more work done."

McLoughlin also announced that the band have signed a record deal with New York label Kemado Records.

"We just like those guys a lot and felt like we had the same view of things, the same perspective," he said.
