Bearded Theory in 'jeopardy' after two people were injured

The future of the Bearded Theory festival is under threat after two people were injured at this year's bash.

Organisers of the Derbyshire event have said it is "in jeopardy" after strong winds caused the stage to collapse on May 16.

Although early reports also suggested three fans were taken to hospital with minor injuries as previously reported on NME.COM, organisers say it was actually a security guard and crew member on site that were injured.

An official statement from festival organiser Rich Bryan read: "The future of Bearded Theory has been compromised by the freak act of nature which toppled the main stage this year.

"The financial implications of the destruction and disruption caused by the incident has left the festival's future in jeopardy.

"However due to the overwhelming support from the public and press, the festival aims to
settle the mess and deal with the financial deficit over the next few months in the way of benefit concerts. Many artists from this years festival line-up have already offered their support."

Neville Staple from The Specials, The Saw Doctors, Tofu Love Frogs, Hawkwind and Goldblade all performed at the three day event.
