The Specials' 30-year career is set to be marked at the Shockwaves NME Awards as part of a special link-up with the Teenage Cancer Trust.

The Coventry band will be honoured at this year's ceremony on February 24. They will also headline this year's Big Gig, which will take place as the Royal Albert Hall in conjunction with the charity.

Get this week's issue of NME, on UK newsstands from Wednesday (February 3), for an exclusive interview with the band and tune in NME Radio this week to hear the band chatting to Chris Martin from 7pm (GMT) on the day.

To mark the partnership The Specials will receive the newly christened The Teenage Cancer Trust Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the ceremony, which takes place at the O2 Academy Brixton in south London. They will also perform on the night.

The band will then headline The Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig as part of the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts on March 29 at the legendary London venue.

Tickets go on sale this Wednesday (February 3) at 9am. To check the availability of The Specials tickets and get all the latest listings, go to NME.COM/TICKETS now, or call 0871 230 1094.

The Specials' award is the first announcement for this year's Shockwaves NME Awards, with news of the Godlike Genius and a host of other performers to come soon.
