The Specials have revealed that their forthcoming Shockwaves NME Awards Big Gig in association with the Teenage Cancer Trust in London is likely to be their only UK show of 2010.

Speaking in a video interview (watch on the right) at the Shockwaves NME Awards, drummer John Bradbury said that despite European festival bookings, the show, set for March 29 at the Royal Albert Hall, would be UK fans' last chance this year to catch them.

"We're able to combine the wonderful award with a wonderful cause," he said. "It's probably the only gig we'll do in the UK this year, as far as we know."

The Specials man was speaking after the band picked up the Outstanding Contribution To Music award and performed live.

"We've been off the road for a couple of months so it was good to have a knees-up and have a blast," Bradbury said of the show.

Of his band's reunion, he added: "To me and to all of us, we're carrying a torch for our supporters as well. They've stuck with us for 30 years and they've shown that they appreciate us coming back and doing it again. It's great, it's fantastic."

Frontman Terry Hall said: "I've noticed our influence over the years, and that's a great thing because we took our influences and acknowledged them, and I think bands are doing the same. It's really nice when bands carry it on."
