It's their first in seven years

The Spice Girls have announced their first new single in seven years.

’Headlines’ is set to be released on November 19 and is the first song from the original line-up since Geri Halliwell left the band in 1998.

Speaking about the track Halliwell said: "Emma [Bunton] and I initially worked on it with the original writers we used to collaborate with. Then the other girls chipped in later adding lyrics. It’s magical."

The band recorded it in the spring, and it will be the official song for this year’s BBC Children In Need appeal.

Halliwell told GMTV: "It’s fantastic hanging with girls you really like, but there are pressures of work to go with it so it’s about finding that balance.

"It’s so amazing. It's like waking up and you get a second chance to be something that is so enjoyable."
