Spice Girls' Mel C readies solo album
Sporty Spice will release 'This Time' on her own label
The Spice Girls' Mel C, also known as Sporty Spice, is preparing to release a new solo album this spring.
Melanie Chisholm's fourth solo album is titled 'This Time', and is set to be released in the US on April 8 via her own Red Girl label.
"Having experience with a major label, it was nice to be able to do the exact opposite and own the copyright to my songs," Mel C told Billboard.
"I was very fortunate with The Spice Girls; financially, I was able to set up my own label and finance my own record."
Mel C said that the new album deals with some serious themes such as being the child of divorced parents.
"I think most of the songs on this album are more about relationships and personal feelings and fears and experiences," she said.
Song titles on the new album include the first single 'Carolyna' as well as 'Your Mistake' and 'The Moment You Believe'.
