She's copying Mel C? Can you believe it?...

BABY SPICE EMMA BUNTON has revealed that she will be recording a song with BRYAN ADAMS today (January 16) for her debut solo album.

Speaking to NME.COM at the launch of the Brit Awards nominations last night (January 15) in London, she also revealed that she has been recording with a series of different producers, including Rodney Jerkins - who has recently been working on Michael Jackson's new album - and that her record will be more guitar-based than pure pop.

She said: "I've got a single coming out in March which I'm really pleased with. It's quite guitar-y."

When asked if she had gone rock, she replied: "No, it's guitars but it's got sweet melodies. The album is kind of like Gabrielle and Texas and things like that. I've been working with lots of different producers - I've done a few tracks with Rodney Jerkins. I'm doing a track with Bryan Adams, though he's not singing on it."

Adams' collaboration with Emma's fellow Spice Girl Mel C, the single 'When You're Gone' , was a Top Five hit in 1998.

Although Emma admitted that she had a title for the album, which is almost completed and is slated for an April release, she said she was not allowed to reveal it or the single title just yet.

She did, however, reveal that the songs on the album included "a couple of tracks about my mum and just things I've been through with relationships". She continued: "I wrote all these tracks and it's really hard, especially when you write them all yourself, because you only get to use so many."

Commenting on the reaction to 'Forever', the Spice Girls' last album, she said: "We had to move on. Whatever these people say about you, you have to change. Everyone has to make that move." As reported yesterday on NME.COM, the Spice Girls have cancelled plans for a world tour this year, but Baby will tour on her own, while the rest of the band concentrate on their respective solo projects.

She tipped Coldplay and Toploader - who performed a short live set at the launch at 10 Covent Garden - to win awards.

Also at the launch were Ant and Dec, who will present the Brit awards ceremony at London Earl's Court on February 26, nominees Moloko, Pink and MJ Cole. Atomic Kitten - without pregnant member Kerry Katona - announced the world's first Carbon Neutral Award, which aims to negate the carbon dioxide emissions produced by the production and transport involved in the event, plus the 12.5 million expected viewers' television sets, by planting eight football pitches' worth of trees.
