Guitar hero to show work in London this October

Former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire is to present a new art and mixed media exhibition at SW1 Gallery in London this October.

'Noise' runs from October 10 until November 2, and features a selection of new works from Squire.

In preparation for the exhibition, Squire revealed that he gained inspiration by covertly recording the conversations of strangers in and around his native Manchester.

From the recordings, he took the most engaging quotes and used them in his canvas-based works.

In 2007, Squire announced to the Manchester Evening News. that he had given up music for good in order to concentrate on his art,

"Music has been put to one side for good," explained Squire, who first exhibited his artwork designing The Stone Roses' album sleeves. "I'm enjoying this [art] far too much to go back to music."

Great news. I'm a huge fan of John's excellent art. If this wasn't in London i'd definitely be attending. Hopefully he's bring this back up up here in Manchester too.
