Stones Roses' John Squire launches new exhibition
Former guitarist opens 'Heavy Metal Semantics' in London
The show takes place at the Front Room Gallery at the St Martins Hotel in Covent Garden, and is entitled 'Heavy Metal Semantics'.
Speaking to NME.COM, Squire explained the show is made up from his very latest work.
"There's a few from this year and the rest were done the tail end of last year," he said. "I've been working with lead, which is a heavy metal, and words which are open to interpretation as to their meaning.
"I'm still a big kid at heart, I like playing with things. I was playing with cardboard boxes, and I was fascinated by the shape of them when they're opened up and turned back into card. I like working with different materials, and I had access to steel and lead."
Squire added that the show marks the beginning of a busy year as an artist, with several more shows planned for 2009.
"I've got a big show in Oldham and one in Austria and one at the end of the year in Tokyo," he said. "The Oldham show is in a major public gallery, so it's a lot of work. It's the biggest show I've done."
'Heavy Metal Semantics' runs until February 18.
