Clint Boon has confirmed that Ian Brown and John Squire recently met up together, following speculation that The Stone Roses are set for a reunion.

This morning (April 7) it was reported that the Manchester baggy legends are set to reunite this year, having split in 1996.

The singer and guitarist famously fell out and were not thought to have talked to each other since the split. Now former Inspiral Carpets man Boon has confirmed that the pair recently had a chat.

He tweeted from Twitter.com/therealboon: "It's true that Ian and John met recently. It was at [ex-Stone Roses bassist] Mani's mum's funeral. We all went back to a pub in Failsworth. Ian and John got on great."

He added: "They spent a couple of hours chatting. All very relaxed, and that. Apart from that, I know nowt else. As a friend and a fan I do hope it happens."

A newspaper report has suggested that a reunion is on the cards now, if the trio can convince drummer Reni to get on board.
