Gig promoters are desperately trying to secure The Stone Roses for a gig in Scotland next summer, according to reports today (October 19).

The Stone Roses announced plans yesterday (October 18) to play two homecoming shows at Manchester's Heaton Park on June 29-30 in 2012, but according to the Daily Record, promoters North of the border are also working hard to try and secure the band to play there next summer too.

The Manchester band confirmed their reunion and the two shows yesterday at a press conference in central London. After the gigs take place, the band will embark on an extensive world tour. They also confirmed they have been in the studio and are working on new material.

The Stone Roses are also strongly rumoured to be one of the headliners for next summer's V Festival and the newly resurrected Phoenix Festival, with the Daily Star reporting that the band have been booked to top the bill at both events.

Tickets for the band's Heaton Park shows go on sale on Friday (October 21) at 9.30am (BST).
