Shane Meadows has revealed he's keen to make a documentary about The Stone Roses after missing their legendary Spike Island show.

The filmmaker told The Sun that a "bad acid trip" meant he was unable to attend the band's 1990 gig - something he has been gutted about ever since.

The BAFTA-winning director has been in talks with the band to film their reunion gigs for a new film - and is willing to put other projects on hold. This includes a third series of This Is England, which will be set in 1990.

Meadows commented:
It's one of those things which come up rarely in life, when you go, 'If they want me to do it and it comes off I'm doing that'. This is me going back to Spike Island but at about 40 and with no hair.

The Stone Roses are due to play three huge homecoming gigs at Heaton Park on June 29, 30 and July 1. They're also due to play at next year's T In The Park and Bennicasim, with an appearance at V Festival also strongly rumoured.
