The Stone Roses' Mani is set to become a father to twins.

The bassist reportedly knew about the arrival before the band's comeback gigs in Manchester's Heaton Park in late June/early July, but kept the news quiet until his wife Imelda Mounfield was through through the early stages of the pregnancy.

A source told The Sun that the couple are "absolutely overjoyed". Mounfield tweeted to the author Irvine Welsh: "We're over the moon but double trouble is on its way!! I'm sure they will be angels !!".

According to reports, The Stone Roses are set to release a brand new studio album in 2013. The Manchester legends, who originally split up in 1996, reunited last year and have taken part in globe trotting reunion tour this year, which has included three sold-out gigs at Manchester's Heaton Park and a series of festival headline sets.

When the band reunited they signed a new two-album deal with Universal Records, but have debuted no new material in their live sets so far.

Last month, Michael Eavis confirmed to NME that he was looking to get the band for Glastonbury 2013. "I'm very keen on The Stone Roses," he said. "I always have been. They played at Pilton Party for 300 people in 1995, which is the year they cancelled on the main event and Pulp stepped in to replace them. I would like them to come back at some point. Are they a possible headliner for next year? I think it is possible, yeah."
