Cycling champion Bradley Wiggins has revealed that he gave John Squire a signed Tour de France jersey before one of The Stone Roses' reunion gigs this summer (2012).

Wiggins won the annual Tour de France road race in July (2012), becoming the first British winner of the famous yellow jersey in the event's 99-year history. The following month, he collected a gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Wiggins is also known for his Mod style and love of indie music. A few days after his Olympics victory, Wiggins and fellow gold medallist Jessica Ennis turned out for a surprise London show by The Stone Roses.

Now Wiggins has revealed that he took the opportunity to give bike-loving guitarist John Squire a special present. Speaking during a 6 Music special with Paul Weller, Wiggins recalled: "John's a big cycling fan, he goes out on his bike a lot. He wanted to go out for a ride one day. I signed him a yellow jersey from the Tour de France before that gig. I think it made a lot of people happy, them getting back together."

Earlier this month (December 2012), Wiggins capped off his glittering 2012 by being named BBC Sports Personality Of Year. He reportedly celebrated at the afterparty by picking up a guitar and joining the house band to play The Jam's 'That's Entertainment' and Oasis's 'Wonderwall'.
