Ron Asheton's family release details about late guitarist's funeral

The funeral of legendary Stooges guitarist Ron Asheton has been held in his hometown of Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Asheton was found dead at his home in Ann Arbor by police on January 6. It is thought he died of a heart attack several days earlier.

A statement released today (January 16) said that a private memorial service, attended by family members and Asheton's closest friends, was held on January 13 in Ann Arbor.

Family members added that if anybody wants to pay tribute to Asheton, donations should be made to his favourite charity, Humane Society.

Donations can be made online by using the memorial option on the charity's website.

Those wishing to donate should list "Ron Asheton" in the Honoree Name part of the electronic form.
