The Streets have been hard at work on their new album - and mainman Mike Skinner has taken a brand new approach.

The star has been recording the album live, for the first time.

Posting on his Official Site Skinner says: “I decided to write all the lyrics before I started with the music, the complete opposite of normal.”

Skinner says that he’s recording with a variety of instruments including “piano, trumpet, harp, violin and flute so far”.

He also says that “I’ve never written an album featuring conversations with both an alien and the devil”.

A release date for the follow-up to 2006's 'The Hardest Way To Make An Easy Living' has yet to be announced.
