The Streets' Mike Skinner has announced his intention to walk from Britain to the south of France.

The rapper-producer is making a "music video-type music video" for new song 'The Escapist', and has decided to make the epic walk the focus of the clip.

As he told NME.COM at the beginning of the year, the song was written for a film 'The Escapist' but it was rejected.

"The director didn't end up wanting it and that turned out really well," he explained. "'The Escapist' is a prison break film and so this is a song about how it feels to be in prison, not that I've been in prison, yet."

Writing on his blog yesterday (May 15), Skinner said there were no hard feelings about the movie - "The film is really good, even though I'm in a mood with its director" – before announcing his intention to pound the, er, streets to France.

"For this work of creative moving imagery I have decided to walk to the south of France," he explained. "I will be relaying the highlights of it with you over the next few weeks of my journey. The fuller story will also be told on our new www.beatstevie.com website, but check that at your peril as it currently resembles a building site. From a grey Dover I bid my English and Albion farewell. Long live Michael Palin."
