The Strokes are on their first tour of the year – and are planning to come to Europe this month for a secret tour.
The band kicked it all off last week in Brazil (October 21) to give fans a taste of their upcoming third album 'First Impressions Of Earth'.
Playing to 4,000 fans in Rio de Janeiro's Museum Of Modern Art, they showcased five new songs as part of a mammouth 23 song set.
Opening with ‘Hard To Explain’, the new songs were 'Juicebox', 'Heart In A Cage', 'You Only Live Once', 'Razor Blade' and 'Hawaii Aloha', while classics like ‘Reptilia’, ’12:51’ and ‘Last Nite’ were also played.
Dates are also confirmed in Argentina and Chile. But now we can reveal that the band are planning on playing more shows this year – including one in London this month.
From South America The Strokes will head to Australia, then Europe for a series of small ‘buzz-gigs’.
A London date is set for the end of this month, with shows in mainland Europe in December.
A source said: “It’s probably going to be at the end of November for the London date, and tickets are likely to be given away to competition winners.”
The Strokes release their new album ‘First Impressions Of Earth’ on January 14, preceded by a single ‘Juicebox’ on December 5.
A full UK tour is set for February 2006.
