The Strokes kill off 'Venison' after secret London show

'They wanted to end on a high,' the band joke

The Strokes have announced that they have split up their spin-off band Venison.

Venison is the name the New York five-piece used when they played their comeback show in London last night (June 9) and, in a lighthearted post-gig tweet on, the band said they would not play under the name again.

"After a career playing only sold-out shows the band Venison are calling it a day," they wrote. "'They wanted to end on a high,' said a spokesperson today."

Meanwhile, fan videos from the 500-capacity gig have been flooding YouTube. See below for footage of the band playing 'I Can't Win' and 'Is This It'.
