The Strokes have finished recording their new album - and are planning to release it within the next few months.

Singer Julian Casablancas gave the news on his Twitter page, Twitter.com/casablancas_j, explaining that the record needed to be mixed but that the main recording process was wrapped up on Monday (November 15).

"[The album is] still not going to be out for a few months – mixing, etc," he wrote. "But just finally finished it, yesterday actually."

The band started work on the album in New York last February with producer Joe Chiccarelli (U2, Beck, Bjork). In March Casablancas said that he had been recording vocals without his bandmates to prevent himself interfering too much.

The album will be The Strokes' fourth, and their first since 2006's 'First Impressions Of Earth'.
