The Strokes will make their live return at the Governors Ball in New York in June.

The three-day event will take place on Randall's Island between June 6 and 8. Outkast were announced last week as the event's headliner, and now the full line-up has been revealed, naming Jack White and Vampire Weekend as headliners on the other two nights.

As well as performing with The Strokes, frontman Julian Casablancas will also perform as a solo artist on a bill that also includes, Damon Albarn, Disclosure, Skrillex, Phoenix, Tyler, the Creator, La Roux, Earl Sweatshirt, Kurt Vile, Deafheaven, Jenny Lewis, Interpol, TV On The Radio, The Kills, Grimes, James Blake, Broken Bells, Neko Case, Spoon, Janelle Monáe, Washed Out, NME cover star Chance The Rapper and AlunaGeorge among others.

The Strokes' last live show came in November 2011 when they performed live at the Planeta Terror festival in Brazil. The group have not played in the US since September of the same year.

Meanwhile, the band have not performed in the UK since they headlined Reading & Leeds Festival in August 2011. The band were joined by Pulp's Jarvis Cocker for a rendition of The Cars' 'Just What I Needed' during their Reading performance.

Last summer's Governors Ball saw Kanye West premiering material from 'Yeezus' after the first day of the event was suspended due to unsafe weather conditions, meaning Kings Of Leon had to rearrange their opening night headline set. Guns N' Roses also performed.

The Strokes released their fifth album 'Comedown Machine' last year but didn't tour or do any interviews. Speculation remains about their future, though, speaking to NME recently, the band's guitarist Albert Hammond Jr said: "There might be times when we're not doing things but I don't feel like we'll ever stop," he said. "We've come to the point where we've been together so long and been through so much that why announce anything besides what we're doing? We're just together."

OutKast, meanwhile, are also headlining this year's Coachella. They went on hiatus in 2007 and have not performed together since 2004, both members Andre 3000 and Big Boi enjoying solo success in the subsequent years. This year is the 20th anniversary of the pair's 1994 debut album 'Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik'.
