The Subways pay tribute to KISS at Download The Subways Tickets
Billy Lunn gets rough and ready with the crowd too
The Subways paid tribute to festival headliners Kiss during their set at the Download Festival this afternoon (June 13).
Taking to stage at 5.30pm (BST) the rock trio played tracks from their newest album and debut while bassist Charlotte Cooper rocked out wearing Kiss face paint on her face.
Then, half way through the set lead singer Billy Lunn stopped to apologise for long gap between the band's first and second albums
"Alright I know we've been away for a while. I know it's been a long time, I'd like to apologise," he said. "We were so scared but thanks for coming down and watching."
The three-piece then launched into 'I Want To Hear What You Got To Say' which saw frontman Lunn stop singing half way through while the crowd chanted lyrics back word-for-word.
However it was finale track 'Rock N Roll Queen' which saw the trio reach their best.
Before starting Lunn said: We're going to make this song extra long 'cos it's our last...and if you're not dancing I'm coming in there with you."
Then half way through the track the singer declared: "Because you're all so gorgeous I'm going to have to come down there and kiss you myself."
Lunn then launched himself into the crowd much to their fans' glee.
The Subways played:
'Kalifornia'
'Young For Eternity'
'Oh Yeah'
'Alright'
'Mary'
'Shake Shake'
'I Won't Let U...'
'I Wanna Hear...'
'Turnaround'
'With You'
'Girls And Boys'
'Rock N Roll Queen'
