The Subways preview new material in LA The Subways Tickets
The band perform daredevil stunts for sold-out crowd
The Subways previewed new material and performed daredevil stunts for a sold-out crowd at the Troubadour in Los Angeles Friday night (August 1).
The trio kicked off their set with tremendous energy, delving into the new track 'Kalifornia', which saw a shirtless Billy Lunn jumping off the drum kit and shouting, "LA, this is your chance to dance!"
The band played several songs from their forthcoming sophomore album 'All Or Nothing', which is due out in the US on September 9. Many audience members knew the words to the new tracks, and sang along loudly to songs including 'Shake! Shake!' and 'I Won't Let You Down'.
"This is dedicated to all the people who listened to the fist album and hung around long enough to hear the second," Lunn said before playing the crowd-pleasing 'I Want To Hear What You Have Got To Say'. "It's such a pleasure to come to Los Angeles and have people to play to," he added.
Before night's end, Lunn climbed up to the second-floor balcony and dove backward into the audience's waiting arms. The crowd broke his fall but didn't quite keep him from touching the ground.
"I got cut up my back--it's our second American show where they haven't quite caught me," Lunn told NME.COM after the show.
"I always get scared (when I stage dive)," he admitted. "You find your way up to the balcony or whatever you want to jump off, and when you get there you realise it's really high, and the people who are gonna catch you are really drunk and excitable."
Lunn added that he was happy to see several show-goers singing the words to the new tracks. "The new album is much more melodic and ambitious than the first album, and people are hooking into the new songs quite quickly," he said.
