Supremes costumes to go on display

London museum will showcase costumes worn by the band

More than 50 costumes worn by Motown legends The Supremes will go on display at at a London museum.

The girl group's performance costumes will go on show at the Victoria and Albert Museum later this month, with interviews with group member Mary Wilson.

One of the first gowns purchased by the band when they were still called The Primettes will be on show, along with the beaded dresses they wore when meeting the Queen Mother in 1968.

Wilson described the exhibition as her "dream". It will subsequently move to Blackpool, Birmingham and Bristol.

She told the BBC: "I have kept these dresses in storage for over 30 years. I am delighted that they are going on display at the V&A and on tour around the UK."
