More on The Stone Roses at Heaton Park

The Vaccines have predicted that The Stone Roses' upcoming Heaton Park gigs will be "incredible".

The iconic band are currently preparing for a trio of reunion shows on June 29, June 30 and July 1 at Heaton Park in their home city of Manchester. The Vaccines will support them on the first night alongside Primal Scream, Kid British and Bob Marley’s backing band, The Wailers.

Speaking to NME about the historic occasion, Freddie Cowan of The Vaccines said: "Obviously I wasn't there the first time around, but I love the band and I think John Squire is amazing. I can't wait to see it. It's the one place in the world to be that day – Heaton Park with The Stone Roses, it's going to be incredible. We're just really happy to be at the centre of that. They're a fucking great band – you can't argue with that."

Despite the excitement of the day, his bandmate Pete Robertson insisted that The Vaccines will not lose sight of the job in hand. He said: "At the end of the day it's a very cool gig to be part of, but I like to think that we got the call because we're quite good at what we do. So we've just got to go and do what we do."
