The Vaselines line up first ever US gigs

The Vaselines, one of Kurt Cobain's favourite bands, are set to play their first ever US gigs this week.

The band will perform in New Jersey and New York, before heading to the Sub Pop festival in Washington state.

The duo of Frances McKee and Eugene Kelly originally split in 1990, but reunited in April this year for a gig in Scotland.

McKee and Kelly are joined by Belle & Sebastian's rhythm section at the gigs.

The Strokes' Fab Moretti and Albert Hammond, Jr. were said to be interested in supporting The Vaselines at the east coast shows, but will now not perform. Instead The Indelicates will provide support.

The Vaselines play:

Hoboken Maxwell's (July 9)
Brooklyn Southpaw (10)
Washington SP20 Festival (12)
